If there is one thing New Paltz has more of than hippies, its jay walkers. A jay walker is a person who refuses to use the cross walks and darts out into traffic, most commonly from in between cars. This behavior causes drivers to slam on their breaks, honk their horns and use rude gestures. When driving here, get your eyes open, especially during the evening and night hours.
