Things to Do

Regal Cinemas Megaplex

Regal Cinemas Megaplex, New Rochelle

Gypsystravels Says:  Ferni and I have come here a couple of times and honestly will say it is not one of our favorite cinemas. The theatre gets very crowded especially during the first weekend of a new screenig and quite honestly, there are too many "undesirables" hanging in and around the...

Hudson Park

Hudson Park, New Rochelle

cjg1 Says:  Hudson Park is one of those places we frequent. They have benches along the beach and some small walking paths that lead from the parking lot to the shores. The name aside this is on Long Island Sound and not the Hudson River which would be impossible from New Rochelle.They...

New Roc City

New Roc City, New Rochelle

cjg1 Says:  New Roc City has everyting you could want when it comes to enetertanment and some food options. New Roc City has: Imax, an 18 theatre movie complex, Bowling, Ice skating, Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebees and Jani.We have often come to New Roc City to see a flick and grab a bite...

Imax

Imax, New Rochelle

cjg1 Says:  Once you've seen a movie in Imax you never want to go to the regular theatre ever again. My first experience with Imax was when we saw 300. It was an incredible movie. Having the screen so large and the sound quality so enhanced made it a great movie experience. We saw Harry...

(CLOSED)On The Waterfront: Ok Idine, New Rochelle

cjg1 Says:  So I’ve been here a few times now, five or six if I had to guess. The food is generally ok... sometimes it's good and sometimes it's sub par. I’m not going to go out of my way to come here for that. But the atmosphere is quite fun and always leads to an entertaining moment...

THE SURF CLUB: CHRISTMAS WITH A HUGE ITALIAN FAMILY

THE SURF CLUB: CHRISTMAS WITH A HUGE ITALIAN FAMILY, New Rochelle

moiraistyx Says:  I was a bit nervous when hearing that I was going to be meeting Richie's Italian side of the family. I had heard all the names and seen all the pictures and heard story after story about all of his Aunts, Uncles and cousins, but I honestly was not prepared to see hundreds of...

Buffalo Wild Wings: Suprisingly Good

Buffalo Wild Wings: Suprisingly Good, New Rochelle

cjg1 Says:  I’ve been only been to this location a few times to dine in although we've gotten take out from it also. It surprises me the ups and downs of a service business. We normally frequent the Portchester location due to its close proximity to our home. This location is ot as good...

The Surf Club: Italian Wedding

The Surf Club: Italian Wedding, New Rochelle

cjg1 Says:  The Surf Club is one of those New Rochelle Beach Clubs/Catering Halls. I had seen pictures of the place before since Liz had her first wedding at the Surf Club. The place is prety big on the inside. Personally I think the chandelier in the main entrance is way too big for...

Applebees: A Quick Snack before Catching a Movie

Applebees: A Quick Snack before Catching a Movie, New Rochelle

cjg1 Says:  Applebee's is not a place I'd come for a meal. It is strictly a snack place for me. When we are in the mood for a quick snack before a movie then we stop in for some nachos or some dessert. The nachos are pretty good and are piled high with toppings. We haven't been...

On the Waterfront: On the Waterfront

On the Waterfront: On the Waterfront, New Rochelle

Gypsystravels Says:  We've been to this restaurant a couple of times and I've enjoyed my meal (Ferni didn't the first time around) and the atmosphere wasn't so bad either. The restaurant is causal family dining. The interior of the restaurant looks like they docked a barge and gutted it out to...

Buffallo Wild Wings: Buffalo Wild Wings

Buffallo Wild Wings: Buffalo Wild Wings, New Rochelle

Gypsystravels Says:  Buffalo Wild Wings is a "chain" restaurant with locations all over the country. Ferni and I were at the New Roc City IMAX theatre and decided to stop here before the movie for a quick bit and a drink. I AM not particularly found of chain restaurants, the food usually lacks...

Mo's New York Grill: His restaurant's great, and he can pitch too!

Mo's New York Grill: His restaurant's great, and he can pitch too!, New Rochelle

spgood301 Says:  So, you're looking for a delicious steak in a classy restaurant in New York's suburbs. With wonderful ambience and fine service. And, you've got the kids. And the Yankees are on - you gotta see the game too. You're thinking, "I'll never find all of that in one restaurant"....

Was in this new bar last night. I normally do not travel to party as it usually involves someone driving or arranging other ways home. But a party for a friend at his new bar brought me out along with many of my friends.

This bar is a lively and happening place that seems to favor a mid 20s crowd.

Transportation

Driving

Driving, New Rochelle

cjg1 Says:  When we visit New Rochelle it is primarily by car. It's a short drive on I-95 or the Post Road from where we live. I prefer driving around Westchester; it allows more freadom to do and see what you want when you want.

GET GOOD DIRECITONS

GET GOOD DIRECITONS, New Rochelle

moiraistyx Says:  As Richie and I quickly learned, it is very important to get good directions when driving to and around New Rochelle. The area is a maze of one way streets and dead ends. If you aren't sure where you are going, mapquest it prior to leaving home. We got lost twice between...

Warnings and Dangers

New Rochelle Cops

I have been warned by Liz and several people who have lived or worked in New Rocheel that the New Rochelle cops are no joke. They definitely live by their own set of rules and will crack head if they feel the need. One of our friends owns a business in New Rochelle and is often harassed and shaken down by some of the members of this police force....it's all about who you know in this town. I'm sure there are some police in this town that are on the up and up and nice but all I have heard about is the bad. So be cautious and follow the rules when visiting New Rochelle.
