This is something that I always wanted to do, to come to this city and see stand up comedy. It is very local and traditional thing here where many TV talk show hosts and comedy movie stars has started, at a local stand up comedy club. I just love the NY sense of humor and surely I needed to visit such club, the choice was for this one and it was.... interesting experience, especially being the only none north Americans in the audience.

The Front Window Showing the Available Shows

Most people know about the TKTS booth in Times Square that sells same day tickets for Broadway shows at half price. So many people know about that you can easily spend 2 hours in line waiting to get to the ticket window.
New Yorkers know that a better place to buy the same tickets is the OTHER TKTS BOOTH, in the vicinity of the South Street Seaport. The line there is always much shorter and tickets for matinee performances are sold there the day before (they don't do that at the Times Square location).
The TKTS office is located on Front St. at the corner of John St., One block South of Fulton St.
And for anyone staying in Brooklyn there is now a third TKTS booth operating in downtown Brooklyn at MetroTech Center at the corner of Jay Street and Myrtle Avenue Promenade, extremely close to the Jay St- Borough Hall subway stop served by the A, C, and F trains.

    Broadway on Broadway

To commemorate the opening of the Broadway season, 50,000 people file into Times Square to watch live numbers from Broadway shows performed on a giant outdoor stage. This is an annual event held within the first two weeks of September. When I saw it Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Chicago, Cats, 42nd Street, Jekyl & Hyde, Kiss Me Kate, etc. each gave a number or two from their shows. The highlights? Lea Thompson doing a number from Chicago. Sebastian Bach, the lead singer for Skid Row, doing a number from Jekyl & Hyde. Melinda Chua and a couple of numbers from Miss Saigon. The final highlight was Betty Buckley, the orignal Grizzabella from the Broadway version of Cats, sang Memory.

    47th Street location

there are two TKTS booths in New York where you can purchase discount tickets for same day performances.

New Yorkers line up early at the 47th Street locationl Downtown has fewer people waiting by far.

I had the oportunity to the Phanton of the Opera, but I will suggest clasics as Miss Saigon or Les Miserables.

Se debe ir a un musical, yo tuve la oportunidad de ver El fantasma de la Opera, pero tambien aconsejaria clasicos como Miss Saigon o Los miserables.

As its name implies is a big, wide avenue that runs the entire length of Manhattan Island in New York City.

It passes through the middle of the Theater district concentrated around Times Square.

Buy your tickets on time, or enjoy it, without thinking the price:-)

I guess the Theatre is cultural. You'll find plenty of plays in NYC and other 'stage entertainment' like TV shows such as 'The Late Show'.
We saw Cabaret, with Molly Ringwold playing lead, located at Studio 54 (in the same building as the notorious 1970's 'disco' of the same name).

A show. You must catch a show while in New York. Go to TKTS on Times Square to get reduced price tickets. As low as half price, and if you're at the top of the line the seats a awesome. I saw Miss Saigon center row 3 at half price ($US40) and The Iceman Cometh with kevin Spacey also 3rd row.
If you're touring and you have the time to wait, line up at around noon for the evening performance sale starting at 2PM.

Broadway. We saw the musical Miss Saigon. I don't like musicals but this was a lot of fun and a few tears. You have to go to at least one musical on broadway during your stay.
