    Wherever in New York City

If your are riding an escalator, stand right or else you'll get tramped on by running people. New Yorkers are so much in a hurry. Same as when walking on the street or sidewalk, or even inside malls.

The tip is, if you are in no rush, stay right!

    Escaltors

Okay, this is an unspoken but hard and fast rule in NYC. If you're on an escalator, the rule is 'stand' to the right, and 'walk' to the left. it is an unspoken rule, but the system works so well until someone stands on the left and wrecks the rhythm :)
