The Campbell Apartment: Grand Central Class
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Campbell Apartment is a fabulous bar located in a former office and saloon of a 1920's tycoon.

It looks a little like you would imagine a Parisian library to look 100 years ago.

We had a couple of cocktails here, sitting at the bar and watching some of the beautiful people.

For those smokers - there is a section for cigar smoking, but it is well ventilated from the rest of the bar.

    Classy is good.

Top of the Tower: Cocktails with a view
  • Tip Rating:
  • Top of the Tower is a fabulous restaurant and lounge bar which is located on the 26th floor of the Beekman Tower Hotel.

It has spectacular views of Manhattan and the harbour, and is a very romantic place for a meal and/or drink.

A fabulous place to meet for a drink, enjoy the piano man's melodies and chat about the highlight of your sight seeing that day!

    An art deco gem.

Times Square: You want to see the heart of it?
  • Tip Rating:
  • OK, if you like your car, you won't even think about driving it on this street. Buses, and Taxi's have some serious issues. I wouldn't want to provide insurance to anyone who drives here.
That having been said, look how purdy, now? Bright lights, big city. You wanna be a part of it, NY, NY....
Yo Puffy, you got a big enough bill board? You go with your bad self.

The rules are there are no rules. Let yourself go, this town NEVER SLEEPS.

Janet took us last night to a cool lounge she had been to previously. We had a couple drinks and got to know each other a bit better in a warmer environment than the skating rink.

I really liked this place as I do most any she says she thought of me when she first saw it. Its just a nice relaxed chill environment. They have a fireplace here that unfortunately was not on. Several couches and chairs. We played a little musical chairs while here.

Drinks were not terrible. $6 for a pint and about $8 for wines while cocktails were $10 to $12.

They are open every day from 11am to 4am and the kitchen stays open until 3am each night.

    Wine Bar: When missing Ovo...
  • Tip Rating:
  • This wine bar is what has become of my favorite restaurant in the city. Ovo. Now though, they have high tables and stools. Very good selection of the wines. I am happy with this place. But every time I go I find myself missing the old.

They do not have a dress code here. Or at least I've seen nothing that would imply it.

    Ava Lounge: Rooftop over Broadway
  • Tip Rating:
  • Best Of: RooftopThis is a wonderful lounge on the top floors of the Dream Hotel is just the perfect setting for that jump start of your party. The drinks are plentiful and you will find the views out of this world as you laugh at the action below on Broadway.

They do cater to groups if you call ahead.

NYC night life. Dress well, but jeans is ok.

    Bull Run: Best Vodka Mojitos
  • Tip Rating:
  • Best Of: MojitosThis after work bar on the corner of William and Pine is one of those places I wouldn't have gone into without the word of mouth that sent me there. But luckily we overcome our preceptions of unknown and I went and tried it. Inside you can find two things. The best calamari in the city since Ovo closed. And the best vodka mojitos in the city.

Do be warned though. It is also priced like it is in this neighborhood. Those mojitos are $10 a piece. And the calimari at least that much.

Although there is no formal dress code here and they certainly won't deny you service, this is a Wall Street area after work bar. So most are in suits. Oh well. Too bad for them.

    Sidewalk Cafe: Local Hotspot
  • Tip Rating:
  • Best Of: Happy HourThis is a nice neighborhood bar/restaurant. I was first here on a Saturday evening when I just went out exploring. What a great find. Friendly staff. Cheap drinks. And the best part of all is happy hour is everyday from 2-8pm, even on the weekends.

We often have VT meetings here too. Good times each and every one. The real draw is that it is spacious, not too crowded and the happy hour pricing. As such this is becoming one of my favorite places to "end up in" on a Saturday afternoon.

    Anything. Something. Nothing.

Remedy - CLOSED: When you need a cure....
  • Tip Rating:
  • This is a place I sort of frequent. Used to be a group thing on Wednesday nights. But now we just met up on a Monday evening and it looks like it may be what is happening.

Very chill atmosphere and excellent service.

My first experience here was a Friday night after Zarela's in October 2003. Janet and me and Patrick and Cecille came here for something to eat before heading home. Amazing how much of that night I remember.

Bonus!!! is this restaurant is on the idine list for American Airlines.

Its a pub. People come in after work in suits and others in jeans and a t. You be you. I'll be me.

This is a pub we've ended up in twice this week on VT meetings. First Wednesday when Remedy was closed at midnight and now Friday when it was closed at 9.

I like this place as its never terribly crowded and you can get a good conversation on here. They also have a heathy serving of the international sports.
