 | New York City Nightlife | Tips 41 - 50 of 997 | | This place is really a restaurant that we used as a place for a couple drinks. It has a lively bar in the evenings and you can still sit and get food. Not sure how late they serve but we were there after 10 and people were still getting food. Just a good place to stop into if you are in the area. There are at least three of these throughout the city. I really like it because it is a bar in New York you can buy PBR. Leave a Comment

This is a place where we sometimes meet for drinks in the evening. It has a sidewalk café and also an interior bar area. Saw signs for a downstairs bar as well but didn’t go check it. The drinks here, at least on a Monday evening are cheap. Pints of Stella were only $2.50
I didnt see anything about a dress code here but a lot of the places through the area are a bit more upscale than other neighborhoods so if you are hopping you might want to step it up. This is a nice bar with an outside patio. We sat outside enjoying the pre-rain Friday evening and the joyous company of VTers. It is like many other bars in these neighborhoods where you can sit outside and the company is what makes it great. I would go back.
You can keep it casual here. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingAddress: 1483 2nd AvenuePhone: 212.452.3354

A place we stopped one night after a sushi dinner. Not a bad bar. Just a few nice drinks and classic movies on the tube. Would go back if I found myself in the area.

This is only a couple of times event but it fits here as it was at midnight. We went to the Harry Potter 5 release at the scholastic store. Although it turned out too hard to find my friends and get inside before the release she was able to get us in ahead of many others where we were able to get the books right off. And then it would take me a couple weeks to read it. Oh well. Thank you again Amanda. For the release of HP6 I volenteered to help out in the store. I was given a copy of the book for my trouble and must say it was a very fun experience. Leave a Comment Theme: Family Spot

Best Of: Dive Bar. I love this place. It is such a dive bar that it feels like home without ever being there before. I frequent this place now about once every month or two. And will continue to be back again. I first found this place during the snowstorm of President’s Day 2003. Friends live just around the corner so we ducked in to wait and be out of the snow. It is a dive bar with cheap beer. With just enough seats for the small crowds it attracts it feels like it is packed. And still being one of those places where you know everyone in the first 10 minutes because it is so small. The best part about this place though is the hours. You seriously have to LOVE any bar that opens at 8am. The hours are Mon-Sat 8am-4am, Sun 12pm-4am.
There is no dress code here. It is a dive bar. Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubAddress: 51 Houston StPhone: (212) 226-8844Directions: South side of Houston at Mott. B, D, F, V at Broadway-Lafayette St; 6 at Bleecker St

This is also a restaurant but I used it as a pre-dinner meeting spot/bar. Good service and the drinks were well made. Made for a nice meeting spot and thankfully had cell service as my phone was ringing off the hook with those coming to dinner and those wondering where I was. This bar we stumbled into on Feb 17 during the snow storm in NYC. Was a nice place and all you hear is generally true. Although I have not had bad service here. It is dark, loud and the tunes absolutely rock. A good everyday crowd who won't make you feel out of place. I suggest anyone stop by here and say hello. Happy Hour is 5-8 everyday with 2 for 1s on everything and my personal favorite here. Tuesday is Grab Bag of Beer day. For only $2.50 a grab you blindly reach in and pull one of 12 premium beers. What you pull is what you drink. Lately the list has included: Pascifico, Grolsch, Molson, Killian's Red, Negra Mandelo, Pilsner Urquelle, Kirin Ichiban and others.
Take things off. You'll get noticed if nothing else.... Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubAddress: 7 Avenue APhone: 212-375-1352Directions: Between Houston and 2nd StreetWebsite: www.librarybarnyc.com

This is a very interesting preformance I was lucky enough to go and see while Jessica was in town. Having no clue what to expect I went in and just kind of took it in. And after about 10 minutes it had taken me in. It gets very funky and a bit wet and wild. NO LONGER IN NY. Monterrey and Mexico City if you wish to see this.
Make sure what you wear to this show is something you dont mind getting wet. Because you will get it all wet. Use the coat check for your bag and coat and go in with very little on you. If you must take a change of clothes in the bag you leave downstairs. We often come here to Irving Plaza for concerts. Usually I must admit it is a Pavement or Jicks show as I am not a large fan of concerts anymore and it takes this to get me to go out.
Clothes. Prove you are wearing something, anything, and you can get in. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicAddress: 17 Irving PlaceDirections: Can find it on the corner of 15th Street and Irving PlaceWebsite: www.irvingplaza.com
