FAT CAT is a weird café+pub+live venue! Definitely a strange place to listen jazz music but we did go down there with a friend.
There are usually 2 different sets per night (19.00 and 22.00). The night we visited the place we saw BILLY KAYE SEXTET and later in the night GREG GLASSMAN/STACY DILLARD QUINTET. There’s usually a jam session after 1.00am but we left the place before that.
The place is a meeting place for many university students, they go there for socializing but also to play at the billiards(!), ping pong tables(! Don’t worry, the ceiling-to-floor nets protect you from the balls) or a board games like scrabble, chess, checkers etc It was funny for us though because we just ordered a beer and went near the corner with the couches are and watched the gig.
There is a small cover charge ($3) but you have to pay for the rest (drinks, games etc)
Very relaxed Jazz club....
if you don't like the music, you can play billiard, table tenis etc... and go back after a new band is performing.
