One evening i was walking back from a restaurant i came past a little bar that was narrow and not very well lit.
I could see a couple of dogs and a passed out guy inside and thought i would give it a shot.
This was really a funny place, with some real characters.
The dogs belonged to two women who were not having any drinks, but just running around the bar with their dogs and annoying everyone with their screaming.
I had a great conversation with a sex toy salesman, with about 4 teeth left, who was telling me how he could finance his boozing by selling fetish objects over the web to people in the bible belt.
The bar was well stocked with beer from the brooklyn brewery, so i was real happy there among the local weirdoes and felt right at home.

Best Of: Dive Bar. I love this place. It is such a dive bar that it feels like home without ever being there before. I frequent this place now about once every month or two. And will continue to be back again.

I first found this place during the snowstorm of President’s Day 2003. Friends live just around the corner so we ducked in to wait and be out of the snow.

It is a dive bar with cheap beer. With just enough seats for the small crowds it attracts it feels like it is packed. And still being one of those places where you know everyone in the first 10 minutes because it is so small.

The best part about this place though is the hours. You seriously have to LOVE any bar that opens at 8am. The hours are Mon-Sat 8am-4am, Sun 12pm-4am.

Dress Code: There is no dress code here. It is a dive bar.

    Milano's Bar: A great dive!

Milano's is a great little dive bar on Houston St. It's pretty small, not much more than a long bar and maybe half a dozen, if that, tiny tables in the back. But it's got a nice relaxed atmosphere nonetheless. The walls are covered in old photographs of days gone by, and the clientelle appeared to be pretty varied, if small in number - from quiet regulars to boysterous youths on a pub crawl, and anything in between.

I met up with Cjg1, Kindberg37, and VirtualPatrick here for a VT meet, and my cousin and a friend of his joined us as well. Had a good time, we hung out until a little past 11, when it was time for Cjg1 to head to the local bookstore to get his Harry Potter fix (book 5 was coming out at midnight). So we all tagged along to see the sights and witness the show... See my travelogue about it for the vivid details.

Dress Code: Dude, it's a dive bar!
