Punk, glam, goth, rock and even the more-than-occasional drag queen converge on the Pyramid Club night after night, and have been for decades. What use to be a club for shows for such names as GG Allin, Sonic Youth and the B-52's the Pyramid now hosts dance nights and the 80's night is one that none can compare to. I am one of the biggest 80's music fan I know. Once I hear the first few beats I can't easily be stopped. This club played some of the BEST 80's music, including some amazing rare tracks and more obscure tunes. I danced non-stop from 11pm to 4am and left a disastrous, sweaty mess...I didn't even stop to use the bathroom. I don't lie when I say that I needed help walking the next day. This place absolutely, without a doubt, rocked my socks right off my feet. We even got a ride home from some lovely lads who were blasting the The Neverending Story theme song on repeat. What a joy that night was for me. 10PM-4AM daily "Thursdays and Fridays are back-to-back '80s parties, with The Metro (mostly straight) and 1984 (mostly gay) respectively." | | | | Pyramid Club: The Pyramid, 1984 night... | Tip Rating: | | | | |
The Pyramid, 1984 night (Fridays 10pm-5am) $7 Cheezy 1980s nights abound everywhere, but this one is bouncy and cheap and consistently fun, so I'm recommending it, especially if you are from out of town and want to get some good dancing squished in without blowing your bank account. it's a big gay night, too, so if you don't want to be pressed up next to 200 cute guys all night, head for the stage, where all the straight people dance (the chicks in tube tops are definitely the most aggressive and will do anything they can to elbow you out of your spot. if this happens fight valiantly, but give in if you lose the fight, as a determined tube topper has a will of steel). There's a nice, cool lounge open downstairs so if you want to rest and relax and watch vintage music videos, go here.
none, really, just laid-back and casual Leave a Comment Theme: DancingDirections: 101 Ave A NYC (N-R 8th Street stop or F 2nd Ave)Other Contact:
