The Pyramid, 1984 night (Fridays 10pm-5am) $7
Cheezy 1980s nights abound everywhere, but this one is bouncy and cheap and consistently fun, so I'm recommending it, especially if you are from out of town and want to get some good dancing squished in without blowing your bank account. it's a big gay night, too, so if you don't want to be pressed up next to 200 cute guys all night, head for the stage, where all the straight people dance (the chicks in tube tops are definitely the most aggressive and will do anything they can to elbow you out of your spot. if this happens fight valiantly, but give in if you lose the fight, as a determined tube topper has a will of steel). There's a nice, cool lounge open downstairs so if you want to rest and relax and watch vintage music videos, go here.
Dress Code: none, really, just laid-back and casual

For the 80's child in you, this club has 80's night on Fridays starting around 11. Get there at 10 and have a drink in the downstairs bar while you watch 80's videos. Then head upstairs once they open the dance floor and rock to the greatest hits of the 80's. Don't bother drinking, you'll just sweat it out and it's too expensive anyway.
Dress Code: Dressing 80's is fun, but make sure you dress in comfortable, cool clothes because it gets damn hot in there.

One of the oldest divey dance clubs in the East Village. Once your past the doorman with an attitude, you'll enter a dark and smokey room. Each night has a different theme. Go on Friday night for '1984' the 80's themed gay (the crowd is mixed) dance party.
Dress Code: There is no dress code. Dress funky, in drag, or preppie, it does'nt matter. Everyone is welcome. Cover $5-$10.

Pyramid Club is my favorite club in NYC. Most of my visits to NYC were during the 80s. I really enjoyed visiting the Pyramid Club, Danceteria, and The Area.
