The Frying Pan: Great on a beautiful day

by jlynyc Updated Oct 11, 2010

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Frying Pan is a really fun and unique place to have a few drinks and some food IN the Hudson River. The "bar" is completely outdoor and located on three different boats that are anchored and connected to each other at Pier 66, at 12th Avenue and W. 26th Street.

The Frying Pan is generally open from May-October from noon to midnight. On a really nice day, it can be difficult to get seating and there are no reservations. However, the FP is located a few blocks north of Chelsea Piers along the Hudson River Park, so it's a great place to grab a rest, some cheap beer and delicious food.

(In the photo, the Frying Pan is seen at the pier with the two red boats next to it).

Dress Code: Casual. It can get breezy on the river, so you may need to bring a light jacket if you are going in the evening. If relaxing on the deck (or the upper levels) during the day, be sure to bring sunscreen!

The Frying Pan: The Perfect Summer Spot

A great place to go for drinks on a summer day with friends. On the river, beautiful spot. I haven't been to the nightclub, but heard it's fun. Great drinks & food. Relaxed crowd. You'll feel like you're on an island...other than Manhattan.

    Dress Code: Bar/rRestaurant are casual
