A Salt and Battery: Authentic Fish n Chips

by TexasDave Updated Dec 9, 2008

An authentic British Fish n Chips place- they even have a a London radio station playing on their sound system!

Favorite Dish: Fish n chips, plus battered and fried scallops and shrimp. Plus mushy peas and a variety of beers.

They beat out Bobby Flay on the Food Network's show "Throw Down with Bobby Flay".

A SALT AND BATTERY: ENGLISH FISH AND CHIPS IN NEW YORK

    A SALT AND BATTERY

When I am abroad, I like to try the local food and customs but with American food, there is not a town or city in England that does not have a McDonalds, KFC or Starbucks on every corner
I was not expecting proper English fish and chips even though I knew English people ran it, but the fish was as good if not better than being at home.
They also sold a range of cans of pop such as Ginger Beer, Irn Bru, Tizer, Shandy and Dandilion and Burdock. a drinks licence also meant they had some imported alcohol from the U.K such as Newcastle brown and Boddingtons.

    Favorite Dish: HADDOCK AND CHIPS
Although not the most healthy of foods, fish is good for you and after fish and chips you don’t feel hungry for ages afterwards
you also need to wash it down with Tizer or Shandy.
