The restaurant is themed to the Forest Gump movie. If you haven't seen that movie, you're missing a part of the fun!

Servers were very friendly and service is swift. Prepare to queue for a few minutes before you get a table...this place can be loaded.

Food was hot and tasted great. More than enough in one portion for a European ... LOL

Favorite Dish: Can't recall the exact name, but it was a load of shrimps in a spicy broth, served with bread and excellent cole-slaw.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Factory: Run Forrest !

Bubba Gumpa is a chain of sea food restaurant, inspired by the universe of the movie "Forrest Gump". Remember Bubba, Forrest' friend who died in Vietnam, and with who he was fishing shrimps ?
Well that's where the name of restaurant comes from, and in fact it's all about shrimps !

The decoration is inspired by the South of the USA in the 50's/60's. There are lot of items from the movie : Forrest's bench with his famous box of chocolate, the ping pong racket, and on every table a sign saying "Run Forrest" or "Stop Forrest" wheather you want to call the waiter or not. There is also a shop where you can buy all sort of souvenirs.

The menu contains a lot of fried shrimps specialities, but don't worry there are some other options is you're not a sea food fan. They also have a nice selection of cocktails.

New York's restaurant is located on Times Square. I liked the atmosphere of the place, food was yummy and our waiter, Patrick, was really adorable !

    Table inside Bubba Gump

Well, this is for tourists of course, but everything turns around the movie "Forrest Gump" and his company Bubba Gump. If you know the story, you will have already guessed that the main food consists of shrimps from Alabama.

Ask to be sitted close to the windows, you are just in the middle of Time Square. Downstairs, a souvenirs shop. Everywhere, televisions showing the movie with Tom Hanks.

By the way, when you eat in America, what is the difference between American food and local food?

    Favorite Dish: Shrimps, of course.

Tip: take only one plate. If you take a starter (appetizer) and a main course (entree), you explode or you leave 80% of the food on the table.
You can take the rest in a doggy bag, but since you are a tourist, are you going to carry your bag everywhere before you reach your hotel?

Bubba Gump Shrimp....: "Mama says" you cant pass up this place!

by ReinaMorena Written Sep 22, 2006

Great food for a decent price. It in the Forest Gump Theme and they even have costumes and exhibits from the movie all round the restaurant. Great seafood, but not the only great thing on the menu. They have many things to choose from that will satify the whole group. GET THERE AS EARLY AS YOU CAN! They are very popular and you may have to wait for your seat. Plus they will NOT sit you unless your WHOLE group is already there.. none of that holding tables for people that may never show up. In the end its worth it and try one of the signature drinks. They taste great and some of them come with a free Bubba Gump glass to take home with ya. They give you a coupon and you pick up a clean new glass down stairs in the gift shop. Bien Provecho todos! Enjoy:)

    Hey Bubba look up!

Remember that scene where Bubba is telling Forrest Gump all about the different types of shrimp he can cook. Well his dream is a reality at Bubba Gump Shrimp factory. There's Coconut shrimp, lemon shrimp, cocktail shrimp, fried shrimp, sauteed shrimp, ok you get the point. If you loved the movie Forrest Gump, and love shrimp. This is a great place to go for dinner. Great drinks too!

Favorite Dish: Coconut shrimp by far. I love all the different sauces they give you. Cocktail sauce, tarter sauce, a tangy and spicy thousand island sauce and a bucket full of hot sauces.

    Bubba Gumps: Not so good

by MELEBR Written Feb 14, 2006

I paid almost $20 for a butterfly shrimp entree. It was a waste of money. The waitress wasnt friendly and we saw her only twice, once to take our drink order and once to give us our check. I had better food and service at the deli downstairs from the Cater Hotel (turkey/bacon club with a huge thing of fries for $4.95!!). My buddy got a pasta dish with shrimp in a lemon garlic sauce and it was pretty tasty. But since they claim to have the best butterfly shrimp, I have to say it wasnt so good. Stick to the pasta....
Our waitress wasnt very good, but another waiter kept coming by and dancing and being funny. He took our pictures on the window sill. He got in a picture with my girl, Jessie, and kissed her on the cheek when we took the picture. He then actually took our disposable camera from the table and ran off to the bar. He brought the camera back, and when we got it developed, it was a picture of him and the bartender making crazy funny faces.

WOW! This place is awesome! Such a touristy thing to do but hey!

The restaurant is in a cozy but open style of booths and all the wooden decor you can imagine! There are Forrest Gump quotes all over the place, Forrest Gump the movie is playing, there are songs from the film ringing out and part of the menu comes in the shape of Forrest's ping pong paddle!

Awesome atmosphere and loads of things to look at and keep your eyes occupied!

Favorite Dish: I ate a sampler which consisted of Shrimp, Mahi Mahi and Lobster all battered, with fries and coleslaw. mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!! RECOMMENDED!
