What started out as a Pie store has developed into a restaurant in Tribeca. The emphasis is on home cooking with a Southern flair. They offer old fashioned milk shakes and of course, fresh fruit pies!
I ate their on a trip to NYC. I, later, read an article on who the head chef was. Curtis Brown use to be a singer of one of the craziest rock bands out (not a good crazy). I saw him once play with his self and then wipe a guys head in the front row, then poured a beer on his head! He followed this up by trying to start a fight with everyone in the front row. He also cooked at this joint in Los Angeles and smoked weed in the back and was very rude to customers. I am disgusted that I ate food that his hands touched! And, by the way, it was way over priced for the type of food it is.
We had a great family meal at Bubbys. My wife had some broiled salmon to die for, the meatloaf was made-at-home good, and the boys had burgers which received no complaints. No problem with a doggy bag either.
The waitress was attentive and friendly and accomodating, but didn't know everything about the food. My wife and I had cocktails that seemed pricey. Skip them and have a glass of wine or beer instead.
Cool laid back atmosphere with some nice jazz in the background. We felt like real new yorkers.
Not cheap but not expensive.
Check it out in the downtown area.
Well, the people I was there with all loved their food but I was dismayed by the Motza ball soup (with one small ball) and salad which I got - all for $13. Everyone else payed less then I did and got more food. WTF.
The ambience in the place is cool. Very low key but clean and elegant. Occasional movie star sitings here.

Erm...ask my friends ;)
Located in the Tribeca district, Bubby's is said to be one of the favourite restaurants of the stars living in that area. I didn't see anyone famous, but even without that, Bubby's is definitely worth going. You have the choice between American and Mexican dishes. I had a garlic burger, which was truly delicious! The service is very good as well.
Bubby's is located in the Tribeca area. The food is soo amazing that my stomach is growling as we speak. They serve a great breakfast/brunch all made with authentic homemade cooking and love. The wait is a wee bit long but definately worth the wait. The smells of the fresh bacon lingers for many street blocks which may cause you to beat up the person on the list before you, but be patient you will be in for a pleasant surprise!
Favorite Dish:
I ordered the scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes...but don't be fooled this isn't anything you can order from "Denny's"...
Definately try the homemade strawberry jam. Bubby's is known for it's pies. Unfortuantely I was too stuffed to even go there. My boyfriend opted for the eggs over-easy, potatoes and bacon...let's just say that I didn't hear a peep out of him for a good twenty minutes...I did occasionally look over to make sure he was breathing between bites!
Decor and service wasn't as good as Pastis (see above) but had yet another quality English fry up here.
Favorite Dish:
Wouldn't come here for anything other than a casual breakfast.
