 | New York City CAFETERIA Reviews | 1 - 5 of 5 | | We found this place on our first night in nyc when we looking for somewhere to eat, we walked 20 blocks and this caught our eye on 17th st on 7th. It had an outside cafe like seating area and the people in there looked like they were having a great time, it was the most happening place we saw that night. we got a table and had some beers, they are pretty averagly priced for draft beer. only thing was the draft beer was limited to 3 non import beers but it was still good. The waiters in there were very friendly and made us feel welcome, they were also very attractive! as were many of the other customers, eye candy, always good! appart from i suspect many were gay, but oh well. the restaurant had an upmarket feel to it but but everyone was dressed so casual in there i didnt feel out of place, it was full of groups of friends and lovers having a great time. great interior, you get a little candle lit lantern on your table, you get free tasty bread and butter on your table and unlimited iced water which is nice, the only restauraunt in ny that did that for us. your plates dont stay on your table long either when you are done they have special plate and glass collectors in there that swoop in like ninjas and take your empties with you hardly noticing. this leaves the waiters with more time for orders so the waiters are always near for when you want something, but they dont intrude by asking you every 10 minutes.
my friend got mac and cheese as an apettizer, he really liked that, i tried some, it was good. i got the steak sandwhich and it was the best tasting steak sandwhich i ever had! you get the salad and tasty seasoned potato wedges with a tub of ketchup. the sandwhich itself is huge, juicy steak with a mustardy mayonaise style sause. it was divine. we went back on our last night and it was consistant and we didnt go out to eat until about 11pm. we knew it would be open as it is 24 hours a day. as good as the first night, if not better. highly recommended, a place to try at least once. i definately want to return when i next go to ny. open 24/7, trendy but relaxed (= you see model-looking types but they're nice and you're not made to feel out of place, no matter what you're wearing!). it's got a slick lounge downstairs... you can eat outside if the weather allows. the menu is not very big but the food is good! even in the middle of the night! (they also do brunch)
MACARONI&CHEESE! how can you go to america without trying one of its most famous dishes! but this is not the kraft M&C but a real yummy one (with serious cheese and a serious crust!). even italians love it! you can order it as an apetizer or as main course. my advice is: WAIT A LITTLE WHILE! IT'S BEST WHEN IT'S A LITTLE LESS HOT: you can taste the cheese more (they serve it scalding hot anyway: beware!) Leave a Comment

The restaurant is really cool during the day or a night. Mostly people eat here at 5 in the morning after a club. But the food is actually good, to go for lunch or dinner. The decor is neat too. Very south beach modern, lots of white.
The lobster sandwich is great and when you want eggs at 3 am its great too. Caesar salad is nice. Leave a Comment Theme: AmericanPrice: US$21-30 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 119 7th Ave (@ 17th str)Phone: (212) 414-1717Directions: chelsea (subway 1, 9 at 14th St)

We went to this Chelsea 24/7 place for breakfast on Saturday after reading about breakfast places on Chowhound. More than a diner, it has a sleek, modern decor, is very bright and airy, and at 8am we almost had the place to ourselves. I had the green eggs and ham while Rita had a really good bowl of oatmeal. The eggs were scrambled with pesto and placed over a slab of goat cheese. The ham slice was a thick piece of bone-in ham nicely fried. I also ate the nice hunk of bone marrow. My only complaint was that the bisquit was small and didn't match the freshness and quality of the rest of the food.
