PLATAFORMA: CHURRASCARIA RODIZIO: Dine Anytime!!!
If you enjoy meat then this is the place. I stumbled on this places in the late 1990s. I do not visit NYC enough to be considered a regular. HThis restaurant caters to a more professional crowd but great for tourist and romantic people with wanting a quality bite to eat. ere's a couple of thoughts:
You enter into a lower level where at least two usually stunning Latin sistas welcome you. Remember that Brazilians come in multiple-shades and colors. These hostesses voices carry you away. If you get a guy, he's just as cool too but, of course, not as good to look at.

> You're provided a circular "table-coaster" like thingie that has "red" or"green" on each side. This tells the meat servers whether you're interested or not. Very simple. It keeps the meat flowing.
> Huge variety of meat
> Easy to get too
> Not far from the heart beat of NYC
> All not meat options are available at an extensive salad like buffet bar. You select your own veggies and sides unless you have some special made.
Top Choice meats.
So, reminds me of my trips to Brazil. Only different is Brazil has many more Linda Mulheres!
PLATAFORMA is a great place to have:

This is a Brazillian Steakhouse, where you pay one price to eat all that you can. Constantly waiters are bringing around meat on steak and serving you. You get a disc with green on one side and red on another. If you want more food, flip it to Green, if you have enough flip to Red. If it's on Green they will just keep on serving you. The food is very good and service wonderful.
Lots of menu options, great bar and entertainment at times.

Big and loud. Don't worry about bringing kids.
All you can eat Brazilian buffet with the meat sliced off giant skewers at your table. A good way to try different things. Most things seemed generally good, but other than the novelty, nothing exceptional tasting.
The house drink (the caipirinha) was tasty.

Churrascia Plataforma Brazilian Steakhouse: How do you say "Atkins friendly" in Portuguese?
Eating at Churrascia Plataforma is truly an adventure. A traditional Brazilian steakhouse, come prepared to go to carnivore heaven. REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE OWNERS OF the Churrascia Plataforma MIGHT SAY, if you are a vegetarian, stay home. This ain't your kind of place. : )
When you arrive, you're seated and your drink orders are taken. You are also given a small colored disc, which is red on one side and green on the other. Place it on the table facing with red "up". This signals the meat cutters that you are still enjoying your pre-meat salad course. (see below for salad menu). The salad items are varied and excellent, but DO save room. You have no idea how much meat is headed your way soon.
When you're ready for the main course, flip the little disc over to green and the neatly dressed meat cutters will continually come by your table, offering you a huge variety of meats (see menu below). This is basically an "all you can eat place", and you will not go away hungry. You might exceed human cholesterol limits, but you'll not be hungry. And just in case eating four or five pound of excellent meat isn't enough to fill your stomach, you'll be given a variety of side dishes to compliment your meal. (Menu below)
When you finally have had your fill of food that had parents, flip the disc back to red. The meat cutters will give you peace and some quiet time. BUT.... there's still the dessert cart on the way. (menu below). Have a nice dessert and get some fine South American coffee, too.
What a great night out.
Favorite Dish: EVERYTHING was good at this restaurant. But if I must choose, the best meat was the grilled lamb. A surprising choice as I usually prefer pork and beef to lamb.
Here's what you can expect to dine on at Churrascia Plataforma :
Hearts of palm, quail eggs, zucchini, asparagus risotto, chicken salad, beans and sausage, lentil salad, chick peas, cold cuts, various lettuces, swiss cheese, broccoli, cauliflower, mushroom salad, red potato salad (VERY GOOD), beet salad, cucumber salad, potato and carrot salad, couscous, excellent jumbo boiled shrimp, octopus salad (not a favorite of mine), mozarella and tomato, marinated crab meat, sushi and sashimi, cod fish casserole and muqueca (a Brazilian mahi-mahi and coconut milk stew)
short ribs, rib eye steak, ham, pork ribs, sausage (VERY GOOD), pork loin, brisket, top round, top sirloin, baby beef, prime beef, flank steak (ALSO VERY GOOD), suckling pig, chicken legs, turkey wrapped in bacon, salmon (so so, according to my wife. I skipped the salmon because I didn't know if it was line caught or net captured. Some Republican, huh?) and lamb. (THE BEST)
Side dishes are
mashed potatoes, white rice, beans, fried polenta, fried plaintains (GOOD STUFF), farofa (fresh casava meal) and pao de queijo (A very good Brazilian cheese bread)
caramel flan (TERRIFIC), coconut flan, coconut custard, cheese cake, chocolate mousse cake, caramel and coconut cake, strawberry shortcake, carrot cake, pistachio cake, napoleon, apple pie, lemon merengue pie, tiramisu and various strudels.
Plenty to eat and it's all very good.
Churrascaria Plataforma NY: Brazilian Food - New York Style
The style of this restaurant is elegance. Its patrons are mostly after work dinner crowds and tourists. We had my sister's bachelorette party here! It was perfect. You may find a pianist and live music on certain days- which adds to the ambience!
Churrascaria serves brazilian specialties: like rodizio (all sorts of grilled meats) and a salad bar with appertizers, shrimp, sushi and all sorts of side dishes that you serve yourself. Each patron is given a disk with a green side-for go and a red side-for stop. The waiters come around with the grilled meats and if you have the green side flipped up then they will ask you if you want to try the meat. This system is beautiful, it allows time to rest between tastings and if you really are full - they don't bother you! Order a caipirinha, you won't be disappointed! This drink is hot!
You get all this for a fixed price - about $50 USD per person when I was there. It is well worth the money and the wait, even with a reservation you may have to wait.
I have been to this restaurant about ten times and not once have I been disappointed. I also have a Brazilian background so its fun to speak to the waiters-all are authentic!
Favorite Dish: Everything is my favorite - try the rice and beans with your grilled meats. The turkey wrapped in bacon is superb!
Churrascaria Plataforma: All You Can Eat Barbeque - High End
It is an all-you-can-eat brazilian barbeque, with a fixed price, which includes: unlimited meat (beef, chicken, pork, rabbit, fish on request), and a salad bar. Beverage, dessert, and tip is not included in the price. Lunch time is cheaper, but I can't remember how much it is.

There are countless restuarants in NY, and there is certainly something for every taste and budget. But my favorite place - the place I can keep visiting and never get sick of - is Churrascaria Plataforma on West 49th street. This is a Brazilian steakhouse and eating there is a unique experience. You start with a blank plate and they suggest you visit the salad bar (which is presented much more elegantly than it may sound - and has everything from lettuce to sushi) but warn you not to eat too much so you don't spoil your dinner to come. When you are finished with your 'salad', they give you another plate and a little round disc which is green on one side and red on the other. The waiters all walk around carrying various types of beef and chicken. They will come to your table, and if your disc is flipped to the green side they will start cutting and leaving their goods on your plate. They will stop when you flip the disc to red. You can eat as much as you like, and the price is fixed. Try a caipirhinia (a near-toxic drink made with lemon juice, sugar, and rum) to wash down all that food!
Favorite Dish: No menus here. $32.95 all-you-can-eat gorge-fest.

Enjoy a few caipirinhas - similar to a margarita, but with a much bigger kick!
Favorite Dish: This is a Brazilian restaurant with an all-you-can-eat concept. You are given a red/green disk when you are seated and when you are ready to eat you turn it to green and then get ready for some fun and seriously good food. The waiters come to your table with various types of meat on skewers - steak, lamb turkey, pork, etc. and you take whatever you like. Come hungry!
