Located in Chelsea Le Zie is a very charming yet busy Italian Restaurant.
It has several different rooms: the main dining area is posh, the galleria is cozy and friendly and the garden is more for romantic dinner.
Went here with a couple of friends who lived in Manhattan (thus recommended by the locals) and had a wonderful dinner.
We shared a couple of appetizers and all of them were good; I particularly enjoyed the tomato-mozarella and the fried calamari. For the main dish I had the fresh fish of the day which was, very fresh. Get the profiteroles for dessert, it was very good.
At the convenience of having this restaurant located right across from my apartment, I get spoiled so much. The food in this restaurant is consistently good and the ambiance is nice and comfortable. If you lucky enough, you can sit on the back section of the restaurant, which you have to pass the door to the kitchen, all the way to the back you will find a more intimate ambiance with a bar. You also have a choice to sit outside, which is great when it's a nice weather. The best thing about this restaurant is that the people are always friendly, the food that is always good and the unpretencious surrounding that make this restaurant very special, although the waiting can be a bit of a pain on the weekend.
Favorite Dish: Always check for their specials of the day. Usually it's very good. In addition to that, you have to try the tasting sampler for two, especially if you just want to eat a little of something while sipping a glass of wine. My all time favorite is their rigatoni with veal ragout and gnocchi with tomato basil sauce. When I don't feel like pasta, I would order the monkfish wrapped with pancetta.
I love my Italian food and this was a wonderful find. The food is northern Italian (the Veneto region) and very authentic.
It's popular, and the staff are friendly, service is quick and the portions will leave you wishing you hadn't eaten that day.
