The food was typical Indian fare served with saffron rice. The beer offering is limited to Taj Mahal though. The upside is that it is open until 1am. After arriving late and getting into the city this was a much needed bonus and totally hit the spot! The prices are pretty reasonable too.
Favorite Dish: The chicken mushroom and chicken bengal were both very good. The chicken bengal was a little greasy for those who are looking out for that. Not spicy at all for Indian food though (the one downside if you like spice).
The naan was a little more pita like than I'm used to, but still good. I wouldn't call myself a connoisseur of indian cuisine so I can't really comment too much on it.
This restaurant is a little jewelbox amidst the funky and eccentric dining and art establishments of the East Village. It is like a disco, Christmas Party and secret hideaway all in one. The service is punctual and polite. The spices and seasonings can be adjusted to your preferances. Very service and customer oriented.
Favorite Dish: All the vegetable curries are excellent, as are the mango and lemon pickles.
