Village Den Restaurant: Locals Recommended Breakfast in Greenwich Village
Village Den was the best place I found to eat std 'American' breakfast in Greenwich Village.
Sits on the corner / intersection of West 12th St. and Greenwich Avenue.
Clean & affordable they have a shaded terrace. In the morning I could eat outside in shade if I wanted, and it is comfortable inside as well.
Good staff, really good food.
Everyone that lives in the neighborhood will direct you here when you ask "where's the best place to eat breakfast" and I think they're right.
Some pseudo-sophisticate vantz @ NYMagazine reviews Village Den with a snarky implication that the food tastes 'like you cooked it yourself.' - Really? Isn't the point of eating a good American breakfast (hardly exotic fare) in a cafe / restaurant having it taste as good as 'like home,'
only someone else cooks it, serves it to you, and then cleans up?
(arrogant putz :P )
Favorite Dish: The usual bacon and eggs stuff but the french toast was really good also.
If weather is good, eat outside on the terrace and watch village people go by.
