Sephora, New York City
the staff are fantastic - helpful and knowledgable about all the products. Had a fantastic experience in the store in Times Square.
These stores are located throughout New York so one is never far away - and if you are from the UK they sell some brands that you can't get over here!
What to buy: cosmetics - have a fab range.
Make up brushes - the professional range is excellent!
What to pay: about average - but make up brushes (sephora professional range) i thought were excellent value for money.
Sephora is a chain of make-up stores that sell the middle class brands of beautification business. In other words, the quality of the items is good and your wallet is not drained.
The store we visited at New York SoHo district was airy and very clean. The staff were attentive and provided information and tips on request. The selection was huge and the prices were okay. Some of the items are sold also in more luxurious settings, such as Saks & Co., with the same price, so you consider visiting them and getting a poshier bag.
The store offers not much to men and most of us were accompanying a spouse and trying to look straight.
I first discovered this cosmetic and beauty chain store in Paris back in the late 90’s. At that time there were no Sephora’s in NYC. That was over 10 years ago. Now, Sephora is sprinkled all over the city.
Specializing in name brand cosmetics, beauty supplies and those heavenly perfumes. If you are looking for some great make-up, those GoSmile tooth wands or anything that has to do with your beauty, you will definitely find it at Sephora’s.
Beware, this is not a cheap place to walk into. I recently purchased a few cosmetics and dropped about $240!! Gulp, yeah, I was floored when I got to the counter. But hey, beauty has its price and you will definitely pay it here at Sephora.
I usually come here about twice a year to stock up on my fave cosmetics like Lancome, Dior, Givenchy, Clinique, just to name a few and then at various times depending on my needs.
You will also find all the great perfumes from your favorite designer.
What to buy: Name brand cosmetics
What to pay: A lot
