Even if you're not a fan of the New York Yankees, there is no denying the history and legend of the team and their famous stadium. Located in the South Bronx, just a short subway ride from midtown Manhattan, the stadium is easily accessible and a true New York experience. If the Yanks are in town, you may be able to purchase tickets to a game (after all, there are over 50,000 seats in the stadium!) -- seats in the bleachers will only cost you $12 (no alcohol permitted). However, the Yankees also have select games where you can purchase tickets in the upper tier for only $5. There is even a family package which includes a ticket, 2 hot dogs and a soda for one low price. If you plan to go to the game, make sure you get there early to check out batting practice and Monument Park. If you happen to be here when the Yanks are out of town, consider taking a tour of the stadium. The new Yankee stadium also has a museum on the upper level.

Equipment: Check the weather and dress accordingly -- it can get cold in the stands on a brisk night. If it rains and you're in the upper deck, you will get soaked. If the sun is out, wear plenty of sunscreen and bring a hat.

Baseball. You have not lived until you have rode the subway to Yankee Stadium, ate a hot dog, drank a few beers, and watched my boys do what they do best. I try to make it to NY once a year to watch a game.

Watching the Yankees play is a great way to spend a few hours in NYC. Yankee fans are very proud of their team and with good reason. The Yankees have won the most World Series Championships ever - 26! The old stadium is full of historical moments and the new stadium is state of the art. The Yankees always have a roster full of great players, such as Derek Jeter, Matt Damon, and Alex Rodriguez. The stadium is easy to get to on the subway.

Equipment: MONEY - food, drinks, and souvenirs are very expensive as they are at every sporting event. Cool clothes in the summer, warmer clothes for evenings in the spring and fall.

We came to New York because Hubby just had to see the old Yankee Stadium one more time before it was torn down. We got tickets for a tour, which apparently were hot items this year. They took us first to the Monument Park which is really a mini hall of fame. So many great players have played here that it is pretty amazing. The Yankees have won 26 world championships. That says alot about their tradition and the stadium is where it all happened. Then we got to walk on the field back to the dugout where we sat in the same seats the players do. That was fun to see the field from their angle. Then on up to the press box. Yeah, they have a great view too. Because it was game day we didn't get to see the clubhouse, but that's okay.

We came back later that night for the game. We didn't see the Yankees warm up, they do that before the gates are opened. Andy Pettitte pitched a shut out,,,saved by Mariano Rivera, boy did the stands roar when he came out! By choice we sat on the very last row out past third base. The people up there were great. We all had a great time, lots of fun and cheering. We took the #D train back with the cars crammed tight with fans.

The new stadium next door looks awesome. We just might have to come back again :-)

Unless he was as handy with a hammer as he was with a baseball bat, probably not. But the history of Yankee Stadium, when it was originally built in the early 1920's, is that Ruth made the Yankees too big for the Polo Grounds that they erected a new stadium for him in the Bronx. And there is stands, even with a renovation in the 1970's. Until next season though, when a new Yankee Stadium will open right across the street.

Yankee Stadium is a huge part of New York's history and worth the visit, especially with the Yankees in town. Enjoy the most famous, historical sports stadium in the United States, and hopefully a great ballgame too. The Yankees are North America's most successful sports team with 26 World Series championships under their belt. For many years, the New York Giants played their home games there too. Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, Jackson, Jeter...they've all worked their magic at Yankee Stadium.

If you can't see a game, you can take a guided tour of the Stadium. Check out Monument Park in left field, with tributes to all the Yankee greats. You can visit that before games too.

Yep, the Stadium is showing its age-sightlines and corridors are a little small and it lacks some modern comforts. And yes, it's VERY expensive. But there's simply no place quite like Yankee Stadium.

As a season ticket holder my boyfriend and I get out quite often to see the games. Its so exciting when you're right up front near first base and you get to see the players and all the action from your seat.

Baseball games are a "National" pastime quite fun once you're at the stadium, fans can be quite rowdy, but we're all there to have a good time and root for your team!!

Everyone should see a Yankee game at least once at Yankee Stadium. The stadium is always packed, the fans are nuts and you just have a great time. As recent as a few years back I'd attend at least 4 or 5 a year, not much but always had a good time while I was there. For the most part we would hang out for a few innings and then leave before the crowd.

I haven't been to a Yankee game in over a year, but I do go to the Mets games, my babe is a season ticket holder and you'll see me at Shea Stadium helping him root for his team.

As a baseball fan I had to take in a game in the Mecca of baseball, Yankee Stadium. The New York Yankees are arguably the most famous baseball team in the world. During my visit the Yankees were hosting my favourite baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays.
When I arrived in New York, I asked the concierge at my hotel how I would get Yankee tickets and it proved to be remarkably easy. Just two blocks from my hotel was the Yankee store where they sold them. I picked up a upper tier reserved ticket for $21.00. This proved to be a great seat if a little cramped. It was right behind home plate and the view of the field was very good. You can also pick up tickets at the stadium box office and Ticketmaster.
Yankee Stadium itself was completed in 1923. It is known as "the House that Ruth Built" for the fact that the team became so popular in the 1920's when Babe Ruth played for the Yankees and popularized the team. The stadium was seriously renovated in 1974-75. In 1976 it was re-opened resembling the building that you have today. If you want to catch a game in today's Yankee Stadium then you have until the end of the 2008 season. The New York Yankees will be moving to the nearby new stadium in 2009.
The fans in New York are very intense but as fellow who was cheering for the other team, I found them much more friendly than Red Sox fans (take that Boston!). Of note the starting pitcher for the Yanks in the game I attended was future Hall of Famer, Roger Clemens. The Yankees beat the Jays 7 to 1 I am sad to say.

If you like baseball, a trip to NYC will provide you with two opportunities to see a game. If you like the American league the Yankees are waiting for you. If you prefer the National League, then the Mets are avaiable. You can travel to both Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium via subway for just a couple dollars.

We bought tickets for a baseball game and went to see the YANKEES. We saw them play against Tampa Bay and it was a unique atmosphere in the wonderful stadium.
The stadium is situated in the Bronx. We took the subway to get there.
