New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium, New York City
Yankee Stadium is located in the Bronx and is the home of the New York Yankees, the winner of the most World Series in baseball history. Experiencing a baseball game here is something special! Even when it's 90F and you are sitting in the sun in the bleechers ;)
Home of the New York Yankees baseball team. The original Yankee Stadium opened on April 18, 1923. It was renovated in 1974. This was the first ball park large enough to be called a stadium. The practice of player numbers began here (it was the batting order). You can see the retired player numbers in the outfield including DiMaggio's, Berra's and Mattingly's.
For any baseball fan, a Yankees game is an absolute must. There is so much history at this stadium. So many meaningful games have been played here for the last 75 years.
Equipment: Security has been pretty tight here since 9/11. Leave unnecessary items at home because everything gets searched
So who has not heard of the New York Yankees?
This too is the yankees but not the New York Yankees.
You would stand a better chance going here if you wish to see a game.
This is a picture of Gary Sheffield playing at Yankee Stadium against Baltimore on April 10th, 2005. It was a good game and we had awesome seats.
we went to the Sunday game on 04-10-05 and watched the Yankees play the Baltimore Orioles. It was a good game, Yankees lost, but it was still awesome game.
This is Derek Jeter looking at the crowd.
We watched the Yankees warm up for the game against Red Sox.
Equipment: We had seats up on the top area, it was chilly. I had to buy a Yankee jacket for $85
Another sight on our cruise around Manhatten island. Not long after passing under Brooklyn Bridge we came across this mecca for Baseball fans.
A Must do activity in NY.. You have got to experience a baseball game when visiting NY (Or US in general)
There are many sports fields in Central Park, particularly at the Northern End. We used to play soccer here at weekends; in the picture there is a game of baseball in progress at North Meadow.
Durign the summer months baseball is very popular. This game here is being played at Heckscher Playground in Central Park. Not quite in the same class as the Yankees though what about the backdrop!
They did also played baseball in Central Park, if was fun looking at it. As it is not a common sport in Europe, but have seen it in American movies.
