Central Park and a Carriage Ride

by pigletsmom Updated Feb 25, 2004

Walk through the park and find hidden treasures and fabulous views of the city. The park is filled with sculptures, lakes. ponds, pretty grassy fields and interesting places to explore. Stop by the Central Park zoo, it's very interesting and has been a landmark for years. If you're short on time, catch a carriage ride in front of the plaza hotel in uptown, and take in the park's lovely scenery that way. Very festive and romantic at night.

A romantic carriage ride aroud the park

A great way to see Central Park and the surrounding area is to take a horse and carriage ride.

The ride costs $35 for half an hour, but it is well worth it.

There are many horse and carriages to be found on Central Park South and also outside the Tavern on the Green Restaurant.

This costs $40 and last about 20 minutes. Its really more fun than anything else. The carriage is surprisingly comfortable and as it was winter - covered and had warm blankets inside and was decorated with poinsettias.

    Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides

One of the most romantic and popular ways to see Central Park is from a horse-drawn carriage. Visitors enjoy this year-round, even during the winter months. The carriages can be found lined up along Central Park South (59th Street) between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, at the southern end of Central Park across from the Plaza Hotel. Rides cost $34 for the first 20 minutes and $54 for a 45 to 50 minute tour

For true romantics, make like Carrie and Big with a horse and carriage ride around Central Park. Its not the cheapest thing to do but if you're with your beloved you won't regret it. We were in NYC on a college trip which included 7 of our classmates (among a coach load of randoms) so it was nice for me and my boyfriend to get some alone time.

We chose the cheapest option (and shortest ride) but unfortunately I can't remember how long the ride was for or how much it cost but you will see plenty of horses parked up in Central Park and outside The Plaza Hotel if you wish to enquire.

We had a lovely foreign driver who was luckily a good honest type because my boyfriend left his bag in the back of the carriage and when we came back later to retrieve it the man remembered us and kept it safe for us.

    Horse Carriage through Central Park

    by Anita_Porec Updated Mar 2, 2004

Awesome experiance..... mind you it is 35.00 USD on regular days and 40.00 USDE on Christmas (not like you wouldn't tip on Christmas anyhow, but....)

    A must do in NYC!

I did this a few times (every time I go) and love it the same. This time however, Christmas made it very special since the park was full of people and kids singing Christmas songs...:)) Nice.

    Carriage Ride!

by jgalb Written Jun 16, 2005

It may seem overpriced at the time, but the 40 something bucks for a ten minute carriage ride through Central Park is well worth it.
