    The Solomon R. Guggenheim...

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is incredible - 1071 5th Avenue at 89th Street, phone 423-3500. Also the American Museum of Natural History - Central Park West at 79th St., 769-5100. The Museum of Modern Art is great. Don't miss the Whitney Museum of American Art. It's small, and easy to do quickly. The New Museum of Contemporary Art is interesting...small also but expect very modern, maybe uninteresting art if you aren't into that style. A great way to see galleries is to pick up an Art Scene magazine. They should be free, but often you'll be charged $1. Some great travel books are the Dorling Kindersley Travel Guides. They make them for so many destinations and I find that they're superb for quality pictures, current info & phone numbers, open hours, locations, great maps, but you'll need another guide (such as Let's Go) for youth hostels and cheaper traveling.

Anyone who has seen the movie Men in Black will recall the scene where the guy Will Smith is chasing climbs up the outide of the buliding- its the Guggenheim. The spiral levels make for a pretty interesting walk around the exhibits.

The Architecture. They have revolving exhibits I saw the Armani exhibit which was great for an avid Vogue reader like myself but would have bored the stonewashed jeans off of some one who not into fashion and since exhibitions take up 5/7 of the museum you may want to call ahead because 8 bucks is a hefty admission and if you just want to look at the architecture you can get into the ground floor for free and look up.

There are so many fun things to do in NYC. I will tell you about a few of them. First, there is the Guggenheim Museum located on 5th Avenue.
This museum always has amazing exhibits. It's worth it to find out what they are before you go so you can plan your day accordingly. One of my favorite exibits was the 'Art of Motorcycle'.

Take some time, not only to look at the paintings and art, but also to the magnificent architecture of this building.

The Guggenheim Museum is the place to go if you are into modern art sculptures & paintings & photography. The design of the museum with it's circular gallery is amazing.

Immerse yourself with art works displayed in this museum. They had a retrospective on James Rosenquist when I visited early December 2003.

The museum was desligned by Frank Lloyd Wright. You start at the top of a giant ramp that circles down and around as you pass by incomparable works of art. The collection is fantastic.

This museum really is more interesting because of its architecture than the actual collection, but modern art lovers will disgree with me and that's their right!

    The Guggenheim

Though it's my least favourite NYC museum (I just do not 'get' modern art), it is worth visiting the Guggenheim just to see the actual building itself.

The Guggenheim Museum is housed in one of the most unique buildings in New York City. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the museum is shaped roughly like a teacup or an upside down terraced hill.

You MUST, MUST, MUST check out the beautiful GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM and its amazing works of art inside. One of my favorite museums here in New York besides the Metropolitan Museum, that is.
