Visit The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This is really one of the biggest and finest art museums in the world. The collection includes more than 2 million works of art -of that several thousands of which are on show at any time. The museum spans a period of 5,000 years of world culture - from the prehistory to the present day. The museum was founded in 1870 by a group of public figures such as philanthropists and artists. It moved to its present day position in Central Park in 1880.

Art lovers would go berserk here. So many museums and galleries to choose! Visit museums, such as the monstrous Metropolitan Museum of Art where you can easily spend the entire day. Their expansive collections cover the whole world. (I particularly enjoy the Egyptian section.) For those who rather appreciate art in a leisure way, head to SOHO where you can visit art galleries and shop and eat and...

A visit to New York is not complete if you don't visit the METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART!

You can view works by Picasso, Raphael, El Greco... but personally for me, I found the Rembrandt etchings mind-blowing and out of this world...

One of the biggest attractions in Manhattan is the Metropolitan Museum of Art, on Fifth Ave, by Central Park.
This is probably one of the best museums in the whole country, with an outstanding collection of works of art, from all over the world.
The different galleries are well separated by continent and specific areas of art achievements throughout the world.

No trip to NYC is complete without a stop at the Met.
The Met is the Metropolitan Museum of Art. One of the world's great art museums, the Met also has the happy bonus of being free. Just pay a donation of whatever you think it's worth. If you have the money, pay the suggested $7 so that schoolkids don't have to. But if you don't have the cash, don't worry -- just enjoy the brilliant works.

MOMA is unquestionably one of the great museums of the world. You can spend days in the vast building, which is situated on the edge of Central Park and faces Fifth Avenue between 80th and 86th Streets. There is scarcely a period in Western Art that is not well represented, not to mention superb collections of Middle Eastern works as well. The Egyptian Room is especially to be recommended. I can't be more clear :
YOU CAN'T COME IN NY AND MISS THIS MUSEUM !!!
(If you hate museums perhaps, but that's all!)
It's excactly the same as The Louvre for Paris. A jewell!!
Outside this museum doesn't seem so big, but inside, wahooo!!! So hudge. You can spend several days inside.
    250 000 pieces are exposed for a collection of 3 000 000

The Metropolitan Museum. You could spend days there admiring its collections. The ancient Egyptian collection is very good. BTW, the Met has a good web-site where you can build your own personal collection of your favourites. I take a virtual tour now and again to remind me what i'm missing.

The NYC museum of modern art no doubt has a better collection and presentation, but there are nevertheless exhibits of modern art at the NYC Met. In this case, we came across a special exhibit.

This is the Roman/Greek hall at the Metropolitan Museum... Besides the valuable things there are inside the museum, it's a beautiful building by itself too as you may appreciate in the pictures...

Great museums, there's so much and what I absolutely loved about it is its diversity.
This is my favorite museum along with the Louvres.
You should at least spend half a day to get a general view.
