The New York City Public Library is one of the few old buildings that you will see in the middle of Manhattan, and within its austere walls lies a welcome silence from the bustle around outside. What is more, the interior looks as impressive as the outside. Based around the back is the relaxing Bryant Park - One of the few green areas around.

There are so many good things one can say about the NYC Library. The building itself has an interesting classic design. The interiors cover a wide range of subjects and date to keep every visitor entertained for hours. Remember though, there is more things to do in NYC so pace yourself :P. Internet is free, however, you have to reserve a spot. The wait may be as long as a few hours so go early!

In the Special Collections room: A hand-written account by one of the doctors attending Abraham Lincoln after he was shot, 1 of 17 known copies of the first book published in the United States, Thomas Jefferson's hand-written draft of the Virginia State Constitution, some of Mark Twain's original manuscripts, Edgar Allan Poe's handwritten early work, and many more national treasures.

If you want to take a photo without the other people around. Try to get back after the library has closed. You have to be there before 10 pm though as they do cordon the area already at that time.
