We were walking down Wall Street from Trinity Church and turned up Broadway (I think that's how it happened) and came upon this 7000 pound bull from the rear. They say that it was delivered in front of the New York Stock Exchange in 1989 and later moved to Bowling Green. I can't imagine the place without it now. I heard that the bull was supposed to have been put up for sale in 2004 (although kept where it is), but I didn't hear if anyone bought it.

The Trinity Church stands on Broadway, but is best seen from down Wall Street, as shown in the photo opposite. Though not as impressive as St Patrick's Cathedral, it's still nice to see, crowded amongst all the modern buildings surrounding it.

Wall Street is surprisingly small and narrow, considering its size in terms of financial power and influence. You'll see lots of business people and policemen here, keeping an eye on the stock exchange. You really feel like you're in the dark depths of New York's catacombs when you walk through here.

Did you know that Wall Street is named so because it used to BE a wall? At one time, the area that is now the heart of America's finanical world was the northern boundary to the small settlement that would become Mnahattan. This is an part of the city is dotted with lots of American history including Federal Hall (where George Washington was inaugurated as the first US president) and the New York Stock Exchange.

Wall Street itself is a surprisingly narrow little lane, but it's lined with appropriately powerful neoclassical towers. The New York Stock Exchange is located at 20 Broad St., between Wall Street and Exchange Place. Once open for tours, the Exchange has been guarded and cordoned off since the 9/11 attacks.
From here you can walk to St Pauls Church and to WTC site.

How often do you hear about the New York Stock Exchange and Wall Street on the news - it is something I have been hearing about all my life, so we just had to stop by and take a photo.
The Stock Exchange if a fabulous looking building.
Ok, we didn't actually go inside, but we hung about in Wall Street looking as if we knew something others didn't!!

The "charging bull" of Wall Street is quite a sight.
It sits in the middle of Broadway, just down from Wall Street.
This huge bronzed bull first appeared in 1989 and is now a favourite for tourists (like me!!)
Rumour has it that if you rub it's testicles you will have good luck in the stock market!!
Eeeeewwwwww!!
