Bill Gray's is like a playroom for kids where they can eat too.It is a favorite place for families to come to eat in a casual atmosphere where you don't have to worry that someone spills a drink or drops a fork on the floor. This is the one my daughter goes to all the time (even as we speak). She prefers the thinner crust and chewy cheese that differentiates this pizza from other vendors in the area. This place has been in Rochester area forever. The original name was Don and Bob's and it was down by the Sea Breeze Amusement Park in Irondequoit. This used to be (10 years ago) one of the better plazas in the area but Marketplace Mall and Eastview Mall seem to have taken many of the customers away. The plaza still has some local specialty shoppes and hairdo places and Bill Gray's Restaurant and Abbott's Custard and Brueggers Bagels but the big brand names have moved on.
The specialty and gift shoppes have a good selection of fine pieces for special occassions or special persons. My wife likes to browse there (and thankfully keeps the charge card in her purse instead of using it). The prices are fairly high.
If you have a little spare time on your vacation or just need an injection of "shopping", then stop in and spend a half hour or so.
Penfield is so safe that I could only find records for a few petty thefts (garage break-ins), one stolen car and a couple of assaults (fights).
My daughter has lived nearby for five years and they have an alarm system on the home. But the only time the alarm system has gone off was when the kids left the door open or the wind blew a lamp off a windowsill table.
It is a very safe town. It is listed in the top 95% of safe homes according to the crime statistics. They don't even have one registered sex offender.
This park is an undeveloped land where Penfield is preserving the local flora and fauna for observation and education. The birding and walking trails in this preserve are pretty raw. They are not formally marked but there are "No hunting" signs posted that people have used as trail identifiers. The trails are trodden dirt and grass and are muddy in...more
