    PLEASE DRIVE AROUND POUGHKEEPSIE

There are a good amount of things to do and see in Poughkeepsie, however I would suggest bringing your own car to make the most of your visit. Find a place to park and visit a few places then go to another cluster of places and park again. There are areas you don't want to walk alone in after dark, mainly the 400 block of Main St. and the North East section of town.

    TAKE THE TRAIN OR DRIVE

by moiraistyx Written May 2, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Poughkeepsie is lucky enough to have a stop for the Metro North Railroad, however it is not blessed with the greatest access to public transportation. When coming to P-Town, I highly suggest driving. Be weary of the many one way streets. If you take the Metro North Railroad, be ready to walk, taxi's can sometimes take hours to pick someone up.
