Most Recent Warnings and Dangers in Queens

  • Common sense

    by ChristopherB7 Updated Aug 5, 2012

Queens has more than 2.5 million inhabitants and compared to other places of this size really low crime rates. The areas bordering Nassau County (Little Neck, Floral Park, Queens Village, Cambria Heights, St. Albans) are definitely among the safest as well as the ones in the north (College Point, Bay Terrace, Flushing, Jackson Heights etc.) and the west of Queens (Long Island City, Astoria, Maspeth). Jamaica is a really big part of Queens and some areas like Jamaica Estates or Cambria Heights are quiet middle class neighborhoods and not dangerous at all. On the other hand South Jamaica can get kind of sketchy especially at night but there is nothing to see anyways. Just use common sense and get "street-smart" and you´ll be fine.
Queens is very diverse and home to people from all over the world who live peacefully together. Don´t be scared of visiting Carribean or Russian neighborhoods, they have great restaurants and there is so much to do. Only the fact that a certain neighborhood is mostly populated by black citizens doesn´t mean it is more dangerous than white areas. Queens is a great place to visit and live! You don´t have to be scared at all!
