Each year our city has the Lilac Festival. People come from all over the world to see our lilacs, which many years havent bloomed yet or have already came and went. They do have craft booths and some music acts (usually high school and dance school performances).

Unique Suggestions: Buy kettle corn. Its delicious.

Fun Alternatives: Park Ave Festival

As I said Rochester is not a tourist trap. Rochester is the 3rd largest city in New York State and has about 1.2 million people in the greater metropolitan area. But one thing it has is ALOT of parks...Genesee Valley Park, Powdermill Park, Mendon Ponds Park, Highland Park, Cobbs Hill Park, Seneca Park(zoo), Ellison Park, Ontario Beach Park, Durand Eastman Park, Maplewood Park, Irondequoit Bay Park, High Falls Park, Tryon Park, Brighton Town Park, Genesee Crossroads Park, Manhatten Square Park...these days they are building mini-parks called 'pocket parks' in 100s of nieghborhoods. I remember lots and lots of parks.
