9 Maple Avenue: A Martini Bar with Hundreds to Choose From

    Martini Bar

We tredged out in the snow and the freezing cold weather to go to this Jazz club/bar I had read about that had a list of over 200 martini's to choose from. On a small back road, it's easy to miss, but do try and find it, the drinks are delightful! You have to ask for the giant 3 ring binder filled with delicious concoctions that are divided into liquor types, vodka martinis, gin martinis, rum martinis...ect... If you can't find what you want in that huge book, not to worry! They have a "special" list with over 6700 martinis!
We each tried a couple of martinis, I had the King's Fling (by far the best) and the chocolate raspberry (gets old quick) and Lou had the red apple and something else that neither of us can recall the name...
Great bartender, great drinks, well worth the snowy journey here!

Dress Code: There was no code when it was below freezing and blizzzardy, but I wouldn't wear snow boots or sneakers on a regular day.

Horseshoe Inn Bar & Grill: Fun under the tent

    by magdalena2007 Written Aug 14, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There is a tent with a bar right outside of the Inn with a live band that comes on several times through out the night. The band was great while we were there and the drinks were amazing! The crowed was nice, there were some older people, younger, and some kids even (not for long). The only thing that I did not like was that there was one bathroom and it was in the restaurant, otherwise there were potter potty’s outside (I wasn’t going near those). Later in the night more bathrooms would have been useful.

Overall this place was awesome and the atmosphere was very down to earth and relaxed with a bunch of drunken collage students / mom’s and dad’s.

Dress Code: I don't believe there was one. I saw women in dresses with 4 inch heals and huge hats (pretty woman style). I saw women with a tank top, jeans, flip flops. Wear what you are comfortable with.

    SPAC: Concerts, Ballet, Symphonies, Theater

    by kooka3 Written Feb 7, 2005

Saratoga Performing Arts Center - SPAC - is a wonderful spot and draws people from hours around. It is the summer home of the New York City Ballet Company, but performances are NOT limited to ballet! They have orchestral and chamber music (I think the Philadelphia Orchestra is here in the summer), jazz, rock/pop concerts, drama, and even opera sometimes.

The best thing about SPAC, I think, is that they have both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor area has orchestra and blacony seating for about 5000 people, but the outdoor seating is better if you don't actually have to see the stage! They can sell up to 20,000 more tickets for outside, and they have large-screen tvs and excellent sound systems. You can have a picnic, move around more, etc.

Dress Code: Indoor seating is a bit fancier, but it depends on the venue. People dress up a lot more for the orchestra and the ballet than for rock concerts, obviously!! Outdoor seating tends to be very casual since you're basically sitting on the ground (or bring a lawn chair!)
