I was looking for a dinner stop before attending The Blaze in Croton-on-Hudson. I wanted to beat the crowds (as much as that's possible for this event), so this seemed like the perfect option - a casual sit-down with family-friendly prices. The individual pizzas were excellent and were enough for two people after a salad. Still, we ordered two, so we had some to refuel with after The Blaze.
Favorite Dish: The Baked Ziti Pizza. I don't know who these people are that get offended and/or downright judgemental about carbs on carbs, but they are missing out. Cheesy pasta on pizza... so good!
Mima's is a cross between a traditional wine bar offering small plates of cheeses, cured meats, and antipasti and a trattoria offering regional Italian dishes. The menu has a good variety of choices and the wine list is expansive, with many choices by the glass.
The restaurant is located in a cozy, rustic building. It has the feel of an upscale family restaurant. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Not sure what to get, ask for a recommendation - they won't steer you wrong!
Favorite Dish: All the food was terrific, fresh and delicious from the antipasti to the dessert.
Though hard to pick my favorite, I'd say that the antipasti which was a selection of cured italian ham, sopressata sausage from Piedmont and fresh ricotta cheese was a great way to start the meal off.
Well in this part of the world one looks for a CIA graduate for a great place to eat. I know what you VTers from NZ and Lichtenstein were thinking HAHAHA. The owner of this nice French Bristo and Baker is from the CIA!! will I get out alive???
The owner Jill Rose is a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) graduate and very well know pastry chef and hired the Chef de Cuisine, Alberto Tirrito also from the CIA.
anyway the place is just a little cramped and a little pricy but the pastry by Jill Rose is a rose worth smelling and tasting for sure. But be careful or you will look like the photo on Kiwi's home page of bear loving western Australians.
Favorite Dish: Contre-Filet Truffière - Angus Strip steak with Black Truffles, Pomme Gratin, fresh from the Market green beans with rosmary.
