Watch your step!
You really have to be very careful here when walking up to the bluffs. Although in some areas, there are nice clear paths, in other areas the paths are barely present and very muddy . There are also fallen trees you need to step over.
Another thing to be careful of while walking in the woods is poisen ivy...It is everywhere!
When you finally arrive to the cliffs, do not get very close. There are no fences and it is easy to slip and fall. Also if you stand to close to the edge, your added weight may cause the area where to you are standing to collapse.
Please don't let all this scare you. It is a wonderful place. It is fairly undeveloped ,which is part of what makes it so special. You just have to take the appropriate measures.

very safe but....
For the most part, Sodus Point is rated as "low risk" on the crime risk scale but one crime is lately on the rise and is now at the "above average" risk level. That crime is Rape which has increased dramatically in the last 5 years. (There are no registered sex offenders in the area).
Extra caution is advised if you are a woman alone or a family with children, visiting the area.
Remember to lock doors on the car and the motel room; use the chain-latch and peephole when in the room to keep intruders out; don't stray into unfamiliar areas alone or late at night.
Be smart and stay safe.
