Irondequoit Creek runs through Powder Mill Park and is a great place to find migrant species that pass through the area. You can follow the creek inside the park from Park Road south to Woolston Road. The trail is pretty raw and goes through thick brush areas and is very hilly in spots. Wear leg protection to keep for getting scrubbed by the shrubs...more

Food at Fishers Station is a family run restaurant only open for breakfast and lunch with a VERY limited menu, but everything they make is delicious. Nothing fancy at all, but people will line up for a table. They take cash only! My family likes to go for Sunday breakfast and my favorite is the fritata that is usually one of the specials. It is a...more
We stopped in here for lunch. It is counter-service where you select from a menu board of choices that are basically soups and sandwiches. We tried the home made chicken soup and minestrone soup and also the Tuna Salad and the Grilled Turkey wraps. You order, you pay and they give you a number. When the order is ready, a serving person comes and...more
Finally got my daughter to order some good pizza, from Pontillos. It is a little drive from Bloomfield to pick it up but it is worth it; it was the hit of the family picnic.Pontillo's recipe for pizza is unique; I don't think I have tasted any other that is quite as good. And it is consistently good, no matter whether you order one in Victor or one...more
When someone in Monroe County says they are going to Eastview, everyone understands they are going shopping for the day.
This is a humungous mall; part indoor/gallery access and part outdoor/canopied-walkway access. It spans both sides of route 96 for about a quarter mile.
The headliner stores are: The Bon-Ton, JCPenney, Lord and Taylor, Macy's and Sears.
Local favorites at the mall are: Aldo, Build-a-bear, Coldwater Creek,Coach, Home Depot, Jack-Jill Clothing, Kay Jewelry, Pottery Barn, Yankee Candle. There are over 150 stores and 9 eateries.
Shopping at Eastview is an all-day event (at least for my wife, it is).

Victor and the communities surrounding the town, rate as "below average" for crime risks; that means the area is safer than an average American town. Robberies, Assaults and Auto-thefts almost never occur.there are only 2 registered sex offenders in the area.Victor is a safe place to visit and we are in the area often because we have relatives who...more
Recently (2007), the Department of Environmental Conservation had started to publish information that was collected 20 years ago about hazardous chemicals in the wells and land-waters of the west Victor region. The area is between Dryer road on the south and Modock Road on the north. The chemicals are TCE and TCA (trichloroethene) and even in...more
Levi Valentine built Valentown in 1879 where a railroad was to pass through. The railroad company ran out of money before they could reach Valentown and never finished the tracks. Valentown vacated and in 1940 J. Sheldon Fisher turned Valentown into a Historical Museum.
The museum is an interesting old building that contains artifacts, articles and equipment that represent the history of Victor and Rochester, NY.
There is a small gift shop where you can buy a token of your visit.
see the website below for a list of special events that are held annually at the museum site.

Choose from three 18-hole courses and a 9-hole excutive course. 4900 yards to 6500 yards are the distances on the 18 holes and each course varies in difficulty, terrain and hazards.
You need to call for reservations because they often have league or tournament play and they also have a weekly rotation on sets of 9-holes to revitalize the greens and repair the fairways.
$25 gets you 18-holes and a cart. The score is up to you.
