Around rush hour on I-95 around the George Washington Bridge I went 10 miles in an hour and a half. Yes, and after losing my sanity, I sacrificed myself to sell my soul to someone else. Going North is ridiculous. Going South on the same road wasn't so bad.
What adds to your loss of sanity would be the gigantic 18 wheelers making it impossible to see any road signs. I couldn't tell until the last minute when we were merging, paying tolls, and many more things I would have liked to have known a heads up on.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS, I TELL YOU!!
In Texas we pay about a $1.50 to drive on a special, convenient, traffic-less road, but something about Northerners and they're silly roads and tolls. To cross the New York George Washington Bridge it costs EIGHT DOLLARS. Yes, $8. What is up with that??
And, it's nothing but gigantic 18 wheelers that makes things impossible to see what's coming up and to merge. What a mess. AVOID AT ALL COSTS TO SAVE YOUR SANITY.
If you are going to be boating in New York State or on the major water ways that abut the state (Niagara River, St. Lawrence River, Lake Ontario) then you should read over the new restrictions that have been passed in 2006 governing the use of boats.
See the new laws at: http://www.cubalake.org/images/Life_Jacket_Law_for_Children_Under_12.pdf
"I didn't know" is not a valid legal defence in New York if you get caught breaking one of these safety regulations.
my family and i went to new york for the frist time not knowing how much it ws going to cost. we went a little resturant and had a meal each(5 poeple) which ended up costing about $400 which shock us all to death. so keep in mind that New York is not cheap so when going to Amercia for the frist time i say don't go to New York until the second time round!
well i m outta here
Yikes! People drive like they've had a lobotomy on this road! Some go WAY to slow, some go WAY to fast, and the worst part is that they are all intermingled. The slow ones peppered all over the road with the fast one weaving and swerving around them. Truly the worst driving experience I've had in a while, luckily I was only on the road for a few exits. Keep your wits about you and practice those defensive driving skills!!!
Some people, no matter how many times warned in a logical fashion, persist and do idiotic things.
CASE AND POINT!!
This is kind of difficult to see, but there is a truck attempting to cross the flood waters.
Another Snowy day in Central New York. I am about to pass a plow/ salt truck that is pouring salt onto the highway.
If you are not from a snowy area, you may not know that this is often a futile attempt to keep the road from freezing.
It has the added benefit of rusting your car rather quickly.
Bears - it is a true danger. Do not forget a bear-bag, long lines and a shackle (I would recommend two lines, 8-10 meters each, possibly dark). All food and garbage should be stored in a bear-bag, hung at least 4 meters above ground and 3 meters from a nearest tree. Otherwise you may be in trouble...
So, you've already seen the effects of snow on my pages.... Now look at the what melting snow does when rain soon follows.
This is a road that has been plowed no more than 30 minutes ago.
It is already an icy nightmare... but, such things are usual here in the winter.
