St. Phillip's Church was really the only interesting structures in Brunswick Town. All the other sites have been reduced to mere foundations as a result a British attack and subsequent torching of the town.

Although, I wasn't exactly captivated by Brunswick, if you are a lover of Civil War or American history, it should be very appealing to you. This photo is actually one that I took from the bow of the Battleship North Carolina in Wilmington.

The port city of Wilmington is around 20 miles up the Cape Fear River and definitely worth a visit. See my Wilmington page for details.

Favorite thing: Orton Plantation is only about a mile from Brunswick Town and offers the opportunity to tour an authentic southern plantation home and gardens. I drove up the beautiful driveway, but decided not to pay the admission fee. It was just too hot and I wanted to hit the road and beat the rush hour traffic at home in Charlotte.
