There are plenty of bars and clubs in the Cape Fear Area. Your best bets are College Road around the campus of UNCW, Downtown Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach.
I hung out at Front Street Brewery in Wilmington and enjoyed sampling some of their handcrafted brews.

At some point while you're in the area try to take a boat ride of some kind. Whether you cruise the Atlantic Coast or chug up the Cape Fear River, it will make you more tangibly aware of the importance of water to this region.

Sure, this is a coastal area, but there's more to do than just hang out at the beach. Check our some of Wilmington's architectural gems as well as the area museums and historic districts.

Unless you're a big fan of history, I'd skip Brunswick Town. The historic town and fort were burned down by the British and what's left isn't all that impressive.

Miscellaneous: Just a place to put a map. I placed it here so you can click on it and see it more clearly enlarged.

Favorite thing: Wilmington is easily my favorite spot in the Cape Fear coastal region. It's a picturesque location along the banks of the Cape Fear River and is conveniently located only about 20 minutes from Wrightville Beach. You'll find charming streets lined with historic homes as well as impressive churches and a great artistic community.
