Hampton Lake at High Hampton Inn & Country Club
Don't miss seeing the lovely 35-acre Hampton Lake, a private lake at High Hampton Inn and Country Club. It is the center of activity for all water sports at the resort. The refreshing waters of the lake are popular with swimmers during the summer, and for sailing, canoeing, rowing, and pedal boating in the spring, summer, and fall.
NO MOTOR BOATS ARE ALLOWED ON THE LAKE!
There is a sand beach and a wading area next to the children's playground.
Because this is a private lake, there is no closed season and no fee. If you are a guest, you can fish for rainbow trout, bass, and bream. They even offer fly-fishing classes! (nearby stream)
What is perhaps most special about Hampton Lake is the Mountain views in all directions. It's truly astounding.

This really isn't an activity; it's a way of life.
It's a place where you have time to do all the things you seldom do back home. Regardless of the season, these beautiful Mountains of Western North Carolina have much to offer:
Spring: What a glorious time to admire nature's wildflowers. Or, how about a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway to experience the southern crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains?
You could experience majestic horseback riding and see "overlooks" that will take your breath away.
Summer: How about basking in the warmth of the sun while you lie in the new-mowed grass or experience the exhilaration of whitewater rafting; drive aimlessly to view weathered barns, grand mountain views, stopping to fish in a babbling brook; or just amble along a trail, stopping to admire wildlife and to listen to that elusive bird who sings just for you.
Of course, you could golf on one of the many scenic courses, swim in one of the many tranquil lakes, or take a boat ride to feel the warm breeze caressing your face.
Autumn I think Fall is perhaps the best season of all. The performance that Nature conducts with it annual "Swirling Leaf Dance" rivals any Broadway Musical! You can still golf, mountain climb, or hike the multiple trails.
This magnificent natural setting doesn't disappear; it just gets better.
Winter: Here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, you can relax in front of a wood burning fireplace, curl up with a good book, or enjoy a brisk walk to enjoy a crisp winter day with the snowcapped mountains to protect you.
