The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Public Safety Department sounds like an office inside one of the administration buildings. One too many people have regarded these folks as security guards. They are not. They are a fully fledged Police Department with guns, jail cells and radar speed detectors. Drink driving, public drunkenness, vandalism (when drunk) or stealing things for souvenirs will all get you locked up. I almost got shot by one of them, but that’s another story. If they don’t get you then the town of Chapel Hill Police (last photo) will. That’s right – 1 University – 2 Police Departments. Keep it down unless you invite the neighbours over for a drink and take it easy in town. They also call in the Sheriff’s Department if there is a riot. Almost got hit by one of them during such a riot, but that’s another story again. So really, you have 3 different agencies to bring any stupidity to a crashing halt. Party, but keep it on private property.
Drive the speed limit, these guys are everywhere.
PLEASE NOTE: 'Public Consumption' is an offense on public property. This means drinking alcohol. I was prosecuted for this (3rd story) by the Chapel Hill Police when I walked across a car parking area.
