Carolina Theater: Indy Films

Housed in an old building on Franklin St., this movie theater shows mostly independent movies. Comfy seats, sort of dumpy looking on the interior but this does not detract from the experience. The concessions are rather cheap as well.

East End: Martini Bar

A cozy, dimly lit, atmosphere. Plenty of Martini selections on the menu, a nice long bar, plus additional booth seating in the back. Also, this is not too far from the Carolina Theater, showing a myriad of independent and hollywood mainstream movies. I had a Kir Royale. They also are an oyster bar, with several seafood entrees to offer.

W.B. Yeats: Irish pub on Franklin

Only been here once, but it was fairly nice and laid back on a Saturday evening. I didn't stay inside too long because there was outdoor seating and it was a nice night. They have a great selection of beers, (guiness, bass, harp, etc.), they place Irish music and there are pictures of Irish poets all over the walls with their quotes next to them. Hence W. B. Yeats. If you're looking for something laid back, I'd recommend it.

West End wine bar: Wine bar

A great selection of wines (over 100), an outdoor patio on the roof, a basement with 3 pool tables, a juke, a few arcade games and a separate bar (8 beers on tap), and also, a food menu with a few unique dishes. I had a BLT with avocado when I was there last. Mmm. The wines are priced as you'd expect them to be in any restaurant, and you can either get a bottle or drink by the glass. A comfy lounge can be found in the main part of the restaurant. It gets crowded weekend nights though.
