Ever wanted to take the controls of an airplane, soaring and wheeling through the air? What about if you had an instructor with you, making sure you (and he) enjoy the landing?
At Burlington Regional Airport, you can take a beginners 45 min flight lesson for only $50!! Do a pre-flight inspection, learn basic aerodynamics, as well as take off rolls, turns, and radio calls.
Since the planes normally rent for about three times that with instruction, this is a uniquely inexpensive way to see Chapel Hill from above! Passengers can tag along for $10 each. Call ahead to reserve.
Burlington is about 20 miles outside of Chapel Hill on Interstate 85. The Airport is exit 143.

I may yet build a separate page for this town but I thought it deserved mention here as it is so close to Chapel Hill. In Carrboro, you will find a lot of laid back folks, nice restaurants, and a favorite rock venue of many, The Cat's Cradle. All sorts of acts come here, and it's very intimate. Carrboro also deserves mention because I discovered in my studies of la Fete de la Musique, which is a yearly celebration of music that originated in France in the early 80s, that Carrboro actually celebrates this festival as well. Stay tuned, this may lead to an entire page.
