There are two Cajun Queens, but stick with the original on 7th Street. As you can see by the picture, it's located in what used to be a large home, which gives it a cozy feel. If you want a romantic dinner, eat downstairs, preferably by one of the fireplaces. There is a bar upstairs and a large eating area featuring the 7th Street Gator Band, a group of Dixieland characters who are all in their sixties or seventies. They have a loud brass sound and they're open to taking requests.

Cajun Queen
Another worthy restaurant is the Cajun Queen, one of the better Cajun restaurants outside of Louisiana. Featuring live jazz and zydeco, the Queen has blackened fish that will make you sing with joy. And the etoufee est incroyable! Theme: OtherDirections: Monroe (or is it 7th?) -- Charlotte has more road name changes than any city I've ever seen. You're almost guaranteed to be lost three times in your first month in town.
