Overwhelmingly, every single person I spoke to that is familiar with this area, all said that going out in Durham is a waste of time. Close to Durham is the town of Chapel Hill, NC which is the home to the University of North Carolina. I did not heed their warning, and definitely saw what they were talking about when I noticed how dead the streets of downtown Durham were. Take my advice, and travel to Chapel Hill if you want night life. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Pool table, darts and a fairly good selection of draught beers and bottles. It's in downtown and easy to get to. Also, there's traditional pub fare along with their buffalo wings which are supposed to be great. I've only had cheese fries here. It's also within walking distance of the Durham Bulls Athletic park and surrounded by old tobacco warehouses that have been converted into all manner of shops.

This was a cool spot to go hang out and drink beer, play pool or darts. It's a short drive/walk from Duke East Campus. Fairly cheap too. $4 an hour for pool. There are 10 really nice antique pool tables and a 22 foot shuffleboard in the middle of the bar too. Darts are free if I remember correctly. And there are over 60 kinds of beer to choose from. It's mostly bottles, as I remember the tap wasn't all that exciting.

Check out the venues at tangophilia.com and you can also do a google search for triangle tangueros. There is at least one milonga per week. Very nice venues.

The Mellow Mushroom is a popular pizza joint that comes highly recommended by Duke University Students. The atmosphere is jovial and sports focused; the food is good and the service is casual and friendly. The location, for Durham, is pretty great! Outside seating overlooks the water feature and the American Tobacco building brings an authentic feel to the place. It is the perfect spot to dine before you attend a Durham Bulls game!
