One of the less economical ways of getting around Durham would have to be by surfboard. This tends to be a popular method, judged by the thousands of fans cheering this mode of transportation. I can not imagine it is very economical, as it requires 10-15 college band members at all times, and it was not very fast.

Raleigh Durham International Airport (RDU)

Flights into Raleigh Durham seem to be very easy to come by. As this is an international hub for several airlines like American, the places you can get to from Raleigh are staggering. The airport itself was conveniently placed directly in between Raleigh and Durham, and I was easily out of the airport, in my rental car and in downtown Durham well under an hour. That hour statistic is one of the ways I judge a good airport, and RDU meets my standard. There are over 500 flights a day leaving RDU, so the chances are good you can go where you need to go as well. On the website link below, I have linked to the page that has all of the possible destinations you can reach directly through RDU.

Airlines serving RDU:
AirTran
America West
Continental
Delta
Express Jet
JetBlue
Northwest
Southwest
US Airways
Air Canada
American
Midwest
United
