Fayetteville Warnings and Dangers

Unfortunately I had to spend over a year in this town. While I won't go into my experience down here, I can say a person visiting must be very careful and aware, the crime rate is high and scary. There are many thefts, and while I was living here a rapist on the loose for many months. I left a movie theatre one evening and was followed by some very disturbing looking men until I drove to the police station. If you are in a hotel - do not leave your valuables in the room. If you are parked in one of the malls, be very vigilant about having your car keys in your hand and be aware of your surroundings. I know there is crime all over the country in any town or city, however this town has more than it's share. Also, I've noticed this is a heavy "drinking town" so try to be aware when you are on the road for erratic drivers who may be under the influence of alcohol and speeders - get out of their way. There are some very nice people of course, and I am not trying to be hateful, just honest. A person needs to be on guard.

Make sure you never leave any valuables in your car or hotel room. Too many thieves. Drug addicts, etc. So lock your money and stuff up in a safe place like a bank vault or safety deposit box if ya don't wanna lose it. Be careful where ya go to, they don't hesitate to pull a knife or gun on ya and steal your car and everything else ya got if you're in the wrong neighborhood. Make sure you're in with the majority of your own color. Sounds cold but true from when I was there.
