Greenville Things to Do

  • East Carolina University

The University is of course the prime focus of this city. Greenville comes to life when the students are in town. ECU always seems to be undertaking some construction projects, so I guess that means that it continues to grow and improve. The campus is quite nice and really is a pedestrian (and bike) campus.

Greenville does tailgating right! There are plenty of good times and wonderful food all in close proximity to the stadium. If you make it to the game that can be fun too.

Just ask anyone in the South and they can tell you about Bojangles. There are a few located in Greenville, so it shouldn't be hard to find one. It is a southern fast-food restaurant chain that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Favorite Dish: Everything is good at Bojangles, but you must have their bisquits, french fries, and of course wash it down with some good 'ol southern sweet tea.

    A typical Bojangles

Greenville Shopping

Pizzaz has a lot of unique gift items, shoes, clothing, and jewelry. These are things you don't see everywhere. They have many hand-painted/monogrammed items that are just adorable! There's something for every age and gender in this store!

What to buy: There isn't one single item in this store that I wouldn't buy or better yet love to receive as a gift!!

What to pay: A lot. I do believe their prices are a little more on the outrageous side, but the uniqness makes up for the price in most cases.

Greenville Warnings and Dangers

  • by MandaJ320 Written May 31, 2004

This part of North Carolina was mostly underwater 1999 after two hurricanes hit almost head on, and back to back. Homes and businesses were destroyed, and the area still has not fully recovered. Greenville is about an hour or two inland, but hurricanes are huge and can carry rain and wind much farther than that. Since this area is at risk for flooding problems, a heavy thunderstorm can turn parts of roadways into little streams.

Greenville Off The Beaten Path

Sheppard Memorial Library, located in uptown Greenville, is the largest public library east of Raleigh. The main library just completed doubling size, contains a children's library, 26+ computer stations, an excellent geneology department for NC; and a wonderful place to learn about Eastern North Carolina.

Go to Andy's and order the 'Chicken Cheese Steak.' Chicken and cheese smothered in onions and green peppers. Also, get a large order of their delicious fries and a 'Death By Chocolate' shake. Meeting my wife in Greenville will always make it a special place for me. I miss her and my children when I am away, so I usually take them with me!
