    4X4 beach access

All the way from Corolla at the top of route 12 and the Outer Banks to the bottom tip of Hatteras are many public 4X4 beach access points, just make sure you have all you need to get out and the proper permit. The beaches are patrolled day and night by the National Park Service park rangers in 4X4's.

Many local marinas for charter fishing

Fishing is really big here in the Outer Banks, if you follow route 12 south and look to the sound side there are many marinas, all of which have charter boats or rentals and water sports activities of some type. The lower down the coast you go toward Hatteras the shorter the distance to the Hatteras and Ocracoke inlet, which means you get to the ocean faster for that deep sea fishing!
