Go to Moonshine Mountain Snow Tubing. It has 3 lanes in which you are pulled up by your tube leash hooked to a pulley. Once on top of the mountain, you sit on the tube and down you go until you run into an embankment and back down again. They have a trailer that sells BBQ and a warm place by the fire to eat or thaw out. There is also a fire outside...

Hendersonville Restaurants

  • Yummy Deli!

The owners trained in France and only serves the best and freshest meats, cheeses and bread. It's located on Main Street where you can shop til you drop. I enjoyed their cornbeef, cheese and thousand island on rye and pumpernickle bread. You've got to try one of their brownies for dessert. It's moist and creamy made with the best chocolate.

My favorite shop on Main Street is the General Store. It houses a collection of novelties, clothing, and candy. Also, be sure to check out the army store, where you can often find discounted clothes, shoes, and miscellaneous items.

Hendersonville Warnings and Dangers

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Hendersonville is a quaint little town located in the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains. It's not very culturally diverse at all. While scoping out Main Street, I came across a flyer for the Ku Klux Klan hanging on the front door of one of the shops. As a young African American, I was a little uncomfortable, but not surprised by the reality of life. Generally the locals are very friendly and inviting. Just be aware (without being paranoid and defensive) that there are still people around (even in 2003) who don't like "people of color."
