The Sugar Shack is one of the best restaurants I've been to in the USA, and in several other countries. It's Jamaican food served by a very friendly, enthusiastic crew. Actually saying it's Jamaican food doesn't do it justice. The quality of the food is just amazing. I think whatever they would make there would be wonderful, no matter what country it originated from. The owners are super nice. It's been there for at least 10 years now, and you'll love it. Don't miss it.
Favorite Dish: You have to try the ribs, which are usually on special with a skewer of grilled shrimp. Try the wonderful slaw and rice and beans on the side, and you couldn't ask for anything better.
salty mcdoogles is a wonderful place to go.. either day or night ! they have everything from burgers, deli sandwiches, seafood, and also a great kids menu.. and it is also has a great night life. they have entertainment 5-7 nights a week ranging from bands to karaoki to a dj.. i love going there. everyone there always makes you feel like family.. they also have a deck out front where you can have a meal or just sit and enjoy a nice cold drink.. you must check it out..
Favorite Dish: i love the burgers.. they are 8oz angus beef hand pattied juicy burgers.. i also love there filet mignon bites, and there buffalo shrimp...
The food quality was good to poor and moderately priced ($10-$20) but it was extremely hot inside. Sharky's has no air conditioning and it was 95 outside, so it was easily over 100 inside and very crowded for evening dinner. People who struggle with stiffling heat should avoid this restaurant on hot days.
One dinner table (there were three tables in our party) did not receive their food until after the other two tables were done and the food arrived cold and tasted poor. This table felt like they should not have had to pay for the LOUSY service and poor food quality.
The food quality at our table was good and we were lucky to not have a spaced out beach kid for a server (she was good) but the stiffling heat did not make this an enjoyable experience when the check came.
Every year we go to Calabash to Dockside and to Larry's Buffet. My tip: to avoid the crowds, go about 5 p.m.
This year we are also going to Crabby Oddwater's, near the bridge to Sunset Beach.
Be sure to walk behind Dockside to the dock where the shrimp arrive!
Favorite Dish: broiled shrimp and scallops; Larry's hush puppies
