I was intrigued to see these things that looked like PVC pipes stuck up on truck radiators or car bumpers. Apparently these are racks to stow fishing rods - in this area I guess for surf fishing - those rods are quite long. These racks allow someone to keep a number of fishing poles arranged securely, apart from one another in a parallel and spaced apart arrangement. They also apparently make them in stainless or aluminum - I think the PVC pipe ones are home made.
On the back truck, not only are there pipes on the front bumper/grill, but also on a roof rack. The truck is towing a boat and trailer also. On the vehicle pictured on the left, I think the rod rack is on either a trailer or a back bumper platform.
Who knew there was a music scene on Ocracoke island? There are a couple of groups that play here at Deepwater Theater and around the village almost every week, one of them that I can rattle off, though I've never heard them, is Molasses Creek. Check it out, most of the groups sell their CDs at the local general stores and the Variety store.
